OMGhoul…I love Krylon Looking Glass Paint B-O-O!!!
Last year I created this Ghoulish Ghostly Mirror. I promised to show you how I did it…well, for some reason I forgot to remember! So this year you can see I placed it on the floor with pumpkins and a witch’s hat and shoes…those are my giant bookshelves in the background!!! See, I am showing you more of my home each day!!! That is scary for me!!!
This was how I staged it last year in my old house on the lanai…oh how I miss that lanai!!!

Tutorial ~ Haunted Ghostly Mirror with Krylon Looking Glass Paint
Honestly, this project is so easy, it is almost silly to tell you how I did this. The hardest part was finding the Krylon Looking Glass paint. My local Ace Hardware has three cans left over from a special order for another person here on my island. They charged me way more than it costs anywhere else, but I needed it. Otherwise, I would have had to order it from the Internet.
You need:
Frame with glass
1-can Krylon Looking Glass Paint

Paint in hand, I set about creating this fun ghostly mirror. I used one of my faces…you know I love to draw faces…as the starting point. I had taken a photo of a scary face in a store last year, so I layered the two in PhotoShop. Then I PhotoShopped it with broken glass, cracks and added loads of textures. This was the result…

Once I had this done, I printed it out on thin paper. I sprayed the image with matte sealer to protect it from bleeding. Then I played with positioning it on a pane of glass.
When I was happy with the placement, I turned it face down on the glass. I didn’t attach it at this time because I wanted the paint on first. The Looking Glass Paint is sprayed on the back side of the glass…not the front. I wanted it to look like an old mirror so I sprayed a fine mist of water in a few places. The water acts like a resist to the Looking Glass Paint. Then I lightly sprayed the first layer of paint around my image. It takes several light layers to create a mirror. Designer Note: Do not rush this and try to put a heave layer of paint down.
When each layer is dry, according to the directions on the can, keep spraying until you have a mirror. I think I did about 4 or 5 layers. The first layer is very transparent. Just be patient. Eventually you will have a mirror.
After the last layer of paint…there is a mirror. WOW!!! You feel really proud of yourself at this point!!!

So you basically spray around the image so that it shows through? I’m not quite sure I get it. LOL
Although knowing this looking glass paint exists, will save me a TON of money buying mirrors and messing with the frames ’til I like them. Now I can just buy cool picture frames and make my own mirrors!

Shan I spray around the image to get the shape. The image is attached to the glass after I paint the mirror. I want to cover the edges of the paper so I spray around the shape.
That is creepy and cool at the same time. I might use that to freak people out that come over to my house, haha
