90-Day Summer Simplifying Challenge ~ Day 54 {accountability}

written by Rebecca E. Parsons

It has been a crazy week indeed and my 90-Day Summer Simplifying Challenge lost a bit of spark. Today I am reaching for accountability. It was a good time to read my 90-Day Summer Simplifying Manifesto!!

A Recovering Magpie’s Accountability

I am recovering my balance and returning to accountability. After the disruptions of this week I need to return to the foundations of the 90-Day Summer Simplifying Challenge. Holding myself accountable has been an ongoing part of this journey. Even the blog posts that you are reading are a large part of the accountability for me.

{Coming clean} I will not do things if there is no accountability!

My Summer Simplifying Challenge

I  am finding the entire process is holding me accountable now. I want to make my Summer Simplifying Challenge a part of my life…NO, it has become a part of my life. The daily tasks have been small enough to accomplish, yet they are a continual reminder that I am changing…in a good way.

Change is not always celebrated in my life. I like to grow, but I am in many ways a creature of habit. I can become very comfortable with the status quo. I had become comfortable within the chaos of my life. And, I am now becoming comfortable within the 90-Day Summer Simplifying Challenge.

How great is that? The process has become a part of me and my life. I did a little math today just to see how many words this series will produce. If the average post is 400 words and I do this for 90 days, I will have written some 36,000+ words by September 1. That is a small book. The average novel is usually 76,000 words or more. If you write 400 words a day (a really small blog post) you can have a novel in six months. That really caught my attention.

I could, in theory, turn this series into a book. A new idea for the recovering Magpie to marinate with. I am not adding anything new to the mix just yet. I promise. I am growing as a person and as a homemaker. I am transforming the old habits into new ones that I plan to keep even after this Summer Simplifying Challenge is over. Changes. Growth. Transformation. YEAH!

Today’s Accomplishments

  1. One box, sorted and things placed into the ‘outta here’ boxes!
  2. The house is clean and orderly.

Today’s Setbacks

  1. No major setbacks to report.
