I wrote about my newly discovered ability to implement my creative ideas yesterday. I have a new expertise as a result of my 90-Day Summer Simplifying Challenge. Read my 90-Day Summer Simplifying Manifesto!!
A Recovering Magpie’s Expertise
I am indeed learning to implement during this 90-Day Summer Simplifying Challenge. That is the greatest gift so far. Soon I will be able to erase the long-help belief that “I suck at implementation.” That is a good feeling and a new feeling for me.
The creative dreamer I have been for most of my life has a new expertise to add to my skillset. Implementation is defined as a specified set of activities designed to put into practice an activity or program of known dimensions; or putting into effect; fulfillment!
{Coming clean} Fulfillment breeds fulfillment!
My Summer Simplifying Challenge
According to a Forbes article by Scott Edinger, there are Three Cs of Implementing Strategy – Clarify, Communicate, and Cascade, The article states, “Unfortunately, too often leaders pour their energy and resources into formulating strategy and spend too little time figuring out how to implement that strategy…”
Of course this article is for C-level people in corporations, but I can easily incorporate them into the Summer Simplifying Challenge! I had no problem clarifying my ideas about the challenge to myself. I had all the goals and objectives laid out in my mind, yet HIMself could not seem to connect with them. I needed to Clarify and Communicate that with him several times during the initial weeks. I tried hard to describe the big picture to him. He was willing, but still unable to jump fully on board. This s probably a result of living within my chaos for years. {weak shoulder shrug and head hanging here}
So the cascade piece of my implementation strategy needed to display itself before he totally bought into my 90-Day Summer Simplifying Challenge.Being the leader in this process meant I had to prove to him I really meant it this time. And that I am doing! {insert BIG smile}
