Oh what a night!!! Hubby and I traveled to St. Mary’s, GA to see the opening day of Cars 2 #gocars2. How much fun was that?
We ordered our tickets from Fandango and this was to closest theater for opening day. Historic St. Marys’ enchanting storybook setting on the St. Marys River is beautiful with King’s Bay Submarine base.
We arrived early so we could get a good seat. Plus, it was the first time buying tickets on the Internet and I was not sure how long it would take. It was a pretty simple process. We showed our Fandango confirmation voucher to the attendant….got our tickets…no waiting in line. WOO HOO!!!
I will always purchase my movie tickets online from now on!!! I recommend this process highly!!!
The line was a shorter line than I expected, except for the popcorn! It was hot, hot, hot outside. It was cool, cool, cold inside. We got our drinks and popcorn and headed into the theater.
As expected there were loads of kids of all ages (us included).
it was dark when we left…the theater is beautiful at night…
here is a slide show of our Cars 2 Movie Adventure…
Movie Review
Editor’s note: This review is intended to be spoiler-free. I believe you’re safe reading it as most of the plot details that I mention are already out there in the movie trailers.
Hubby and I both liked Cars 2 #gocars2 and enjoyed the James Bondesque international spy mystery storyline. In my opinion, it’s even better than the original.
Cars 2 is in 3D and this is pretty impressive. As an artist, I loved the color…nothing short of amazing!!! All of your favorite characters from the original Cars movie are back, except for Doc Hudson aka The Hudson Hornet originally brought to life by the wonderful Paul Newman. Cars 2 brings some new characters to life including my new crush (sorry Mater) an Italian Formula One car (voice of John Turturro).
The movie is the further adventures of star race car Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Tow Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy). I don’t want to spoil the plot so I just will tell you that, in Cars 2, the cars leave Radiator Springs and travel around the world. In a series of not-so-fun adventures throughout Japan, England and Italy you see beautiful scenery that is very realistic for animation. You really feel like you are there.
Mater takes the leading role as the pair travels to compete in the World Grand Prix race. But the road to the championship becomes a ‘little’ rocky when Mater becomes torn between assisting Lightning McQueen and joining a top-secret mission orchestrated by master British super spy Finn McMissile (voice of Michael Caine) and the stunning rookie field spy Holley Shiftwell (voice of Emily Mortimer).
There is a lot of action with a good amount of shooting and many, many chases. It seemed like a marriage between James Bond and Nascar to me. The kids seemed to enjoy it even though most of the plot is above their heads. Adults will appreciate the humor of the movie.. I think we laughed more during the movie than the kids did. Everyone loved seeing their favorite characters on the big screen.
I really liked the messages of friendship and courage. I loved the life lesson of being proud of who you really are as Mater faces the truth. This is a great movie for the whole family… there is something for everyone.

So is “Cars 2,” which is rated G, appropriate for kids of any age? Well, I guess so with qualification. There is quite a bit of violence in this movie. Some of the characters are placed in life-or-death situations.
Credits: Directed by John Lasseter and Brad Lewis, written by Ben Queen, with story by Lasseter, Lewis and Dan Fogelman. Produced by Denise Ream. A Disney Pixar release. Running time: 1:44
I pre-ordered our family tickets on Fandango.com. I documented my first time buying process in this little video. It was easy peasy…you need to try it!!!
I ordered the tickets on June 17th. As you can see in the little video, it took me less than 3 minutes to complete the order. I captured the process as I experienced it because first time ordering processes can be confusing some times. This process was not.
You simply click on the movie you want from the drop down list, enter your zip code and click find theaters. It takes you to a screen that shows all available theaters within 15 miles. Then you pick the date and the time you want. On the next screen you choose how many tickets you want with choices for children and seniors. Then fill in your payment method…(you can use a credit/debit card or PayPal. It takes a few minutes to fill out your info) …and you have tickets.
There is a voucher to print with your confirmation number. You take that to the theater to receive your tickets. I like this because we don’t have to stand in line to buy…especially on opening day when the lines will be long for sure!!!
There are usually some fun promotions at Fandango.
There are many other movies coming soon that you purchase tickets for on Fandango.com. For example: Transformers: Dark of the Moon – 6/29; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 – 7/15, etc. Go to Fandango.com to see other coming attractions.
You should know that this shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and Fandango #gocars2. The ideas and opinions are 100% my own.
