David C. Cook Family Devotionals
If you have been searching for a way to share your faith with your children or grandchildren, the David C. Cook Family Devotionals set is a good place to begin. This well-designed series of three books will help you introduce the practice of prayerful Bible reading to young children. And it may add to your faith journey as well.
Each book of this set is a roadmap for parents, grandparents, teachers, etc. who want to bring God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit into the daily lives of their children. There are 52 devotionals in each of the David C. Cook Family Devotionals books to share with your child. The delivery system is perfectly though out for capturing a child’s attention. The first part of each devotional is a poetic passage to read aloud to your children. It engages their minds and hearts immediately. I like to have them open their Bible to the scripture passage. It is a great way to instil Bible reading in their hearts.
The “Grow Your Faith” Section is for your guidance and reflection. It helps you prepare to interact with your children and talk to them about the passage. The “Grow Your Child’s Faith” section is another read aloud section. It helps them to bring their thoughts and feelings about the reading to discussion. It opens so many pathway for your to speak to your children about your faith and feelings.
Each devotional ends with a simple prayer that you can say together or you can let them make up their own prayer, which teaches them so much about developing a relationship with God, Jesus, and The Holy Spirit.
