My DIY Elegantly Sumptuous Luxe 4 Less Christmas Decor Vignette #18 is an inexpensive way to get some glamour into your decorating scheme. I so wanted a large mirror over the mantle this year. Mirrors large enough to work here are very pricey indeed!! So I found this 30′ X 48′ frame at a yard sale for $8 and created the luxe look for way less.
The frame was gold, so I spray painted it with my new favorite spray paint…nickle!!! It gives a warmer metallic look than silver making it look old and expensive. I did a hit and miss spray technique as I wanted some of the gold to shine through too. It looks amazing.
To create the faux mirror was a little more challenging. It had an old cardboard print inside that is a nice image so I flipped it over and sprayed the back with chrome spray paint. I like the look, but there were some worn and torn places that did not look mirror-like. So I glued some ornaments from Kmart and the Dollar store on it. It adds the shine I was after and more texture to the vignette plus gave me the height I was after. The whole mirror was achieved for under $15….Luxe for Less indeed!!!
