Finding a reliable car is a top priority for me. Of course I like bells and whistles as much as anyone else, but reliability and safety are number one for this Baby Boomer. I do not want to be driving, (especially at night), and breaking down. As much travel as we do, we want a care we can depend on.
Finding a Reliable Car Research
HIMself has done a lot of research into finding a reliable car for us. He tells me the 2016 Honda CR-V earned a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick Plus rating from IIHS. That pretty much won my buy in. The next thing was deciding where to look online.
Where to Look Online
I went to Cars.com to see what was available. I have heard it is a one-stop website for buying a new or used car. And I was impressed. Everything I needed was right there and easy to find. The website is user friendly enough even for the most novice surfer. Let me walk you through the process of finding a reliable car:

On the handy purple Find New and Used Cars for Sale screen (above), type in the Car Make and Model, select a price, and add your zip code to find cars in your area. It seems there are 151 New and Used Honda CR-Vs within 30 miles of my tiny island in Florida. Some of them are so new they are still under wraps.

I scrolled through the list that was ordered from highest price to lowest. This Certified 2016 Alabaster Silver Metallic Honda CR-V Touring with gray interior for $26,500 caught my eye. I love the fact that I can write to the dealer and request a test drive, check availability, schedule a test drive, request more photos, discuss financing, or simply ask a question or two. The phone number is right there and there is even a little movie to see more about the car. As for easily doing a reliable car search, I find that this baby has great airbags, anti-lock breaks, anti-theft alarm system, plus heated seats, Sirius XM radio, and less than 25,000 miles.

Easy to Check the CarFax
On this same page above I can see the estimated payment, learn about Honda Certified cars, and link to the Carfax on this particular car. Awesome! This is a one owner, accident free car with 6 service records.

Price Comparison Tool
This was probably the second most important part of the search…finding if the price is good. On this same page you can see it is $347 below average compared to other cars with similar mileage.

As you can see, finding a reliable car at Cars.com is easy and painless. All the information you need is right there in one place. It is so easy to use, I can even recommend it to my friends who are less than savvy Internet users. The next time you are in the market for a car, visit Cars.com.
