90-Day Summer Simplifying Challenge ~ Day 85 {deliberate}

written by Rebecca E. Parsons

The deliberate letting go of my 90-Day Summer Simplifying Challenge means I have a choice in the matter. I am in control of my life and lifestyle. Read my 90-Day Summer Simplifying Manifesto!! 90-day-Summer-Simplifying-Challenge-button-large

A Recovering Magpie’s Deliberate Letting Go

“When people see some things as beautiful,
other things become ugly.
When people see some things as good,
other things become bad.”
                                                  ~Lao Tzu

My stuff is/was neither good or bad. It just was or is. The judgements we place on things are what make them become problematic.

{Coming clean} Judgements, mine and others, hold me back at times. Letting go did not come with ease for me!

My Summer Simplifying Challenge

Simplifying started as a pursuit that morphed into a philosophy. When I started down the ‘get me out of this mess’ path, I had no idea that it would became a spiritual journey. It began as a deliberate letting go of accumulated material stuff that has helped me begin to rid myself of heavy emotional baggage as well.

I find that I have choices about what to let go of and what to retain. I have a choice to align my personal values with my practical needs. My 90-Day Summer Simplifying Challenge is not about guilt or sacrifice. It is about wholeness and opening my life to allow goodness and peace to flow both inward and outward.

Living with Deliberate Purpose

You know how sometimes you just want to start over? Just walk away, leave everything behind and start fresh? I wanted a do-over. I don’t rally live in the past or even bother with regrets. It is a thankless adventure for me. I know deep in my soul that I have done the best I could at the time. I have told you before, I stay pretty much in the present.

However, today I am looking forward to the days after my Summer Simplifying Challenge with delight. Not because I want this challenge to be over. I have so loved the process, I may need another manifesto when I complete this jpurney. This manifesto will be about living my life with deliberate purpose. I have enjoyed the deliberate process of this journey. It suits my creative temperament. Each day had elements of sameness, yet each held a different surprise that challenged me in new ways.

With the exception of very few days, I wake early and jump into my morning power (energizing) ritual. I say the rosary, I pray with Sacred Space, I exercise by walking on my beloved beach or marsh, I have a cup of Bigelow Plantation Mint tea and then dive headlong into my work. And for the past 85 days, I have opened a box and let go of its contents. I am blessed to be able to do this routine.

When I wrote my 90-Day Summer Simplifying Manifesto I had not idea that I would actually do this journey. The desire was high. I longed for simplicity in every aspect of my life. Most importantly, I was ready to let go.

I wanted to have a fresh outlook and a simplicity of life I had never experienced. I set out to relearn or makeover old behaviors and and put into place some new ones. In order to start with a new slate {as mine will ever be blank} I must embrace the adventures that brought me here and made me who I am today, for having experienced them.

Tell me about your steps to living a simplified version of life in the comments please.
