A Recovering Magpie’s Loosening
As my 90-Day Summer Simplifying Challenge comes to the final days, creating a space and a place for a simpler life has blossomed into a lifestyle. I am now mindful of the quiet that is developing in those spaces where chaos reigned just three months ago.
Making more space in our home comes a mere six months after we moved into this new house I call Angel Wood Cottage. There was a powerful effect that came about during the move and the preparation for the move. The amount of boxes literally overwhelmed me to the point that I wanted them gone forever. It is no longer necessary for me to hold on. I needed to be free.

My Summer Simplifying Challenge
I am closing in on this freedom and a simpler life as the challenge comes to a close. Organizing and creating space is easier. After the challenge I plan to work my way through each of the rooms in the house, carefully loosening and letting go of things no longer necessary to my life and lifestyle. And I actually look forward to this time of cleansing before the holidays are upon us.
Finding places for our remaining belongings will be a pleasurable undertaking I imagine. I can now actually see these treasures and enjoy them. Even though I loved each and every one of my collections, I found that having so much prevented me from enjoying them. When you have room for your treasured pieces, you can actually take pleasure in them. The display of a few give them, and me, the space to enjoy them.
This loosening has brought with it an inner stillness. I am finding an ability to tap into my inner space more easily. And this is where I meet God in the simplicity of my ordinary life. I am blessed by this less-ness of my 90-Day Summer Simplifying Challenge.
Today’s Accomplishments
- One more box opened, sorted and things placed into the ‘outta here’ boxes!
- Household cleaning tasks continue.
Today’s Setbacks
- None…I am filled with energy for the task at hand.
