I am not political at all. At least I choose not to verbalize my leanings publicly. I imagine that most who know me can guess my affiliation…so let’s leave it there. I know some, perhaps all, of us have been a little unsettled this fall over the election. The results may or may not have been to your liking. I continue to read hurtful and blistering statements from my friends about the candidates…which are troubling to my heart.
Kindle Our Imagination to Bless
“Our longing for the eternal kindles our imagination to bless. Regardless of how we configure the eternal, the human heart continues to dream of a state of wholeness, that place where everything comes together, where loss will be made good, where blindness will transform into vision, where damage will be made whole, where the clenched question will open in the house of surprise, where the travails of life’s journey will enjoy a homecoming. To invoke a blessing is to call some of that wholeness upon a person now.” – John O’Donohue, To Bless the Space Between Us: A Book of Blessings
What disturbs my chi the most is the loss of respect for the office of the President of the United States of America. I have heard some say, “He is not, and never will be, my President.” Yet he is!
I know it is your inalienable right to spew vitriol if you so choose. I respect that right. However, my respect for you may have wavered a wee bit. Yet I remain in peace with you and I continue to bless the space between us!
Great post Rebecca! So over the bickering and hate!
