DIY Christmas Decor Project
Here is an Elegantly Sumptuous and Super Easy DIY Nickel Plated Candelabra Makeover to get your decorating juices flowing. It is created with a candelabra I found for a steal at Goodwill. Seriously this was just $4. It was a dirty, old brass piece that had a drooping arm.
Easy DIY Nickel Plated Candelabra Makeover
By now you should have discovered that I love my local Goodwill store and the three fabulous thrift stores on the island. I could decorate a mansion pretty well with the things I find there. This candelabra is no exception. You are going to be shocked by the makeover.
The Makeover Process
The results of my DIY Nickel Plated Candelabra Makeover speak for themselves. The transformation is just gorgeous. I think the paint actually cost more than the candelabra. Here is what we did:
We cleaned it thoroughly with soap and water. Then HIMself repaired the arm that would not stay in place. It kept turning around upside down. He fiddled with it an hour or so to make it stay in place. Sometimes fixes are easy and sometimes they take days. But it’s all fun!!
Next, I spray painted it with nickel metallic paint. I loooove the look of this paint. It is matte and has a subtle shine, just like a nickel. It looks so good with candles in it just about anywhere. It often graces out dinners on the lanai and is always put into use over the holidays.
Our DIY Nickel Plated Candelabra Makeover was so much fun to do. I love nothing more than rescuing a worn piece from a thrift store or flea market and bringing life back to it. This one took us just a few hours and a few dollars to create an heirloom piece.
While I was doing a Facebook Live about it today, I thought about antiquing it by putting some black paint into the grooves. I will try to do that tomorrow and share some pictures of that little extra project.
Tell me what you are rescuing this year and making a beautiful part of your home.
