I Got a Taste of Hillshire Farm Grilled Essentials Chicken Breasts #GrilledEssentials

written by Rebecca E. Parsons

I am one of the first people on the planet to taste test Hillshire Farm‘s new Grilled Essentials #GrilledEssentials line. This is a brand new, quick and easy product from Hillshire Farm, a division of Sara Lee. I was so excited to try each of the four different flavors and share my experience with you…so you can look forward to this time-saving, tasty meal maker!!!

Hillshire Farm had an amazing booth at BlogHER ’11 and I was able to sample two flavors there. I really liked these new products that will be found in the lunchmeat section of your supermarket. I made this little video testimonial for Hillshire Farm at BlogHER…

The Taste Test

You should have seen us..the kitchen looked like a test kitchen. Hubby did the honors with the microwave while I set up the photo shoot. It was such a fun time for us. here are our unbiased and honest opinions:

My favorite is the Garlic and Herb Chicken Breast with the plain grilled running a very close second. My hubby’s favorite is the same with the Italian Style Chicken Breast a close second. For once we agree on something!!!

My least favorite is probably Italian Style Chicken Breast, although I would have it again. Hubby had a hard time deciding on his least favorite, but finally settled on the plain Grilled Chicken Breast only because he so liked the sauces.

from BlogHER

The chicken was packed with flavor…tasting fresh and delicious. We both loved that it tasted grilled even though it was heated in the microwave. Kudos to Hillshire Farm for that accomplishment. The texture matched a real grilled chicken breast and remained very moist. We also liked the fact that it is low calorie and low fat and the single serving is just the right size for a sandwich.

Each package contains two chicken breasts. The ease of preparation was amazing as a packet takes only 60 seconds in the microwave. How great is that for a busy working mom who needs a quick and easy meal after a long day?

For this initial taste test, I just prepared them as directed and tasted them without any other preparation. Hubby did make a sandwich and loved it. Ideas are coming fast and furious as I imagine many ways to use Hillshire Farm Grilled Essentials. I will be sharing them in the near future…so check back often for my recipes!!

There will be a upcoming Twitter party with chances to win your own taste test.

Rebecca: These look super yummy! I can’t wait to try them out. And for some reason my eyes are always drawn to that $.55 off coupon that’s attached. Guess I can’t help but be frugal! 😉

Great job. I love the way you laid out the plates and packages side by side. Looks delish.

Yummm, this looks delicious. I don’t eat red meat; I’m mostly a pescatarian, but I do enjoy chicken from time to time so thank you for sharing your thoughts on a new product!

Wow…one of the first people on the planet? For real? See you ARE the bomb! Although I don’t eat meat myself, I cook chicken for my family all of the time (their favorite). I think I’m going to add these to my next grocery list so I can have a quick fix in a pinch! Thanks for sharing!

Okay, it would never occur to me to cube chicken like that and skewer with cherry tomatoes for a canape, but how cute is that? And easy! Love it.

Yummy! I think I’d like to put it some of the chicken in a nice, soft roll!
