My New Passion-Bead Embroidery

Sherry Serafini Makes a Bead Embroidery Bracelet

I recently took a Surface Design class with Martine House at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC. It was an exciting week filled with new techniques I had read about but never tried. I came away with a new passion. I am smitten with bead embroidery!

The best thing is that I now have a use for all those found objects I have been collecting for ever. Other techniques I will use in my artwork are distressed Tyvek and Lutrador, creating my own fabric with water soluble stabilizer, and cording…all create texture which is important in my art.

I plan to combine Tyvek and Lutrador techniques with painting and bead embroidery to create unique, one-of-a-kind artworks. I will keep you updated on the progress of the work. Some of the samples I created in this class are below:
