Pretty Revealing Two and a Half Men Debut Episode

written by Rebecca E. Parsons

The much awaited Season 9 first episode of  “Two and a Half Men” on CBS last night was pretty revealing indeed! We were treated to a lot of footage of a naked Ashton Kutcher as the Walden Schmidt. Just in case you have been away from TV, tabloids, etc. for the past several months Kutcher is replacing the character Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen) who met his demise, perhaps at the hands of a jealous stalker/girlfriend Rose.

The episode began with a view of Charlie’s bowling shirt hanging by his closed casket. We hear that he ran away to Paris with his true love Rose. She explains how she caught him in the shower with another woman. She then describes Charlie’s death, explaining that he fell (or perhaps was pushed) from the platform of the Paris Metro into an oncoming train and exploded “like a balloon full of meat.”

Alan (Jon Cryer) tried his best to deliver a serious eulogy as Charlie’s former ‘companions’ kept interrupting with not so funny jabs about the deceased. Charlie’s mother then casually reminds everyone that her dead son’s Malibu digs are for sale and there will be an open house. Pure impudence! Just what fans of “Two and a Half Men” have come to expect.

Back at the house the tall, good-looking, filthy rich, depressed and often naked Kutcher made his appearance in the form of Walden. Walden, a lonely Internet billionaire who’s devastated by the breakup of his marriage, tried to kill himself in the ocean and ended up at Charlie’s back door cold and wet.

Walden and Alan bond through a series of misadventures. He decides to buy the place and allow Alan and Jake to live there also. YADDA YADDA YADDA!

My favorite part of the episode is when Darma and Greg come to the open house. I loved that show!!!

I am still not too sure about the new vibe, but I am willing to take a ‘give him a chance to settle in to the part’ attitude. I really was hoping that Kutcher’s character would be bright and unlike his slow-witted ‘That 70s Show’ character. That remains to be seen.
