I have been challenged to create a recipe for summer meals using Ore-Ida Sweet Potato Fries (#OreIdaFries) from Sam’s Club. I was excited to try this new product and was intrigued by the idea of combining frozen sweet potato fries with a grilling experience. This is the story of that creative experience…and a great recipe below…
First, I brainstormed how to make something unique with the Ore-Ida Sweet Potato Fries. I could go many ways:
- The fries as intended
- The fries incorporated into another dish
- The fries used way out of the box in something like a tart….hummmm
I was still mulling ideas as we headed into Jacksonville to my nearest Sam’s Club. It is a 30 minute drive with breathtaking scenery. I look for any excuse to take this journey.
Sam’s was pretty busy this day. We took our time and browsed the aisles for bargains. There were some special things that caught our eye…
We headed to the frozen section in search of the Ore-Ida Sweet Potato Fries.
There were only a few choices of fries…and only 1 Ore-Ida product–Crinkle Cut Fries. There were no Ore-Ida Sweet Potato Fries. I was bummed and asked an employee who said they were “seasonal.” Whaaaaat??? However, they did have Alexia Sweet Potato Fries!!! Very interesting indeed! Sam’s Club please stock more options!!!
We purchased a few things and headed off to explore some other stores…while in Jax I always try to visit Barnes & Noble and the Apple Store…
This is a slide show of the complete mission…loads more photos…
In order to complete my mission, I had to go to my Walmart to find Ore-Ida Sweet Potato Fries…there they are…
I bought them and headed home to prepare dinner…
Back home we created a perfect go-with side dish for a grilled supper–Ore-Ida Sweet Potato Fries.
I decided to try them as intended the first time and get creative later…I did, however, dress them up with an original dipping sauce…you know I need to create something!!!
When it comes to making the perfect sweet potato fry, it’s the crispy that counts. Our new Ore-Ida Sweet Potato Fries are specially prepared so they’re fluffy on the inside, with our famous crispiness on the outside. –www.oreida.com
Here is how I made them…
I put the sweet potato fries on my cookie sheet. It is easy to do, just make sure they are in a single layer. I then baked them for about 20 minutes at 400 degrees.
They came out perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside.
Rebecca’s Sweet Potato Fry Dipping Sauce
1/2 Cup Orange Marmalade (at room temperature)
3 T prepared horseradish or horseradish sauce
Blend the ingredients together.
Serve with warm fries.
We enjoyed Ore-Ida Sweet Potato Fries with burgers. Hubby loved the sweet potato fries…a new fan…I have always loved SP fries. They were easy to prepare…next time I will grill them so not to heat up the kitchen!!! Ore-Ida SP Fries will be in our freezer from now on.

I just saw the Sweet Potato fries in Wal-Mart yesterday! I’m going to go back tomorrow and give them a try. While I don’t like dipping sauces, I think my daughter might really like this, and since it’s easy to make, I’m on it!
This looks fantastic Rebecca! I am already a fan of the sweet potato fries~ they are wonderful and using a dipping sauce is a great idea! Thanks for sharing this! 🙂
I may need to try your dipping sauce. I have been substituting sweet potato fries for a while with my kids. 1st time they almost refused to eat them (orange french fries??) but I had place food coloring on the counter and advised them I colored the potatoes. Now they eat them no problem! We love the Ore Ida ones. I have them in my freezer right now!
Rebecca…. I LOVE sweet potatoes but never think to look for them in the freezer section of my grocery store. What a great idea to keep them stocked in my own freezer for a quick and tasty side dish. Thanks!
That is perfect for parties – LOVE IT!
I am a huge fan of sweet potato fries – never thought of the marmalade dip! Sounds delicious.
