Some rubber stamps for Technique Junkies Blog Hop Celebrating Rita Barakat's New Stamp Designs!

This first artwork I designed with Rita’s stamps turned into a series of Works on Paper entitled Friendships – Collage on Watercolor Paper, 9″ x 12″. These feature Rita’s beautiful Reflections face stamp. I simply could not stop playing with this stamp. I created a pastel, loose style acrylic background on card stock for each, then sewed watercolor paper onto it with teal thread. I stamped the faces on a small index card and carefully painted the background, leaving the face unpainted for maximum effect. I added stitching to the top and bottom to embellish and accentuate the face. I added collage items from my stash to complete the look and create movement.

My next artwork is a Collage/Assemblage featuring Rita’s Relaxed Fairy stamp and the Beautiful Minds sentiment stamp. It is my ‘artful’ interpretation of Steampunk entitled Mermaid Joy Ride – Collage/Assemblage on paper, 8″ x 10″. I am not very steampunky…so I painted the gears and stamped the fairy in platinum ink on a dark, watery acrylic background. She used the gears to make a play cart to ride when she isn’t flying.

My final artwork features the beyond cute Sassy Sue stamp from Rita’s Technique Junkie line. (Can I have a favorite?!?) It is a 2-layer, interactive tag called Wisdom Joy – Acrylic on Cardstock, 6″ x 3.5″. This face is just precious. I think she looks like me with that big hair and glasses. TEE HEE!

    Hi Rebecca,

I’m sorry to bother you here, but I tried to ask on The Graphics Fairy and my comment doesn’t show up. I did lesson 1 of the junk journal course you started at TGF and am anxiously awaiting the rest. Have I missed something? Has the course been canceled? lesson 1 was wonderful!
