Heading into the second week of my 90-Day Summer Simplifying Challenge. Week one is behind me…that is a good thing. You can see exactly what this all about in my Summer Simplifying Challenge & Manifesto.
A Recovering Magpie’s Cries
Tears…yes they had to come at some point. Today was the day. Overwhelm moved in with a fury and I thought about abandoning the studio for another time. I have managed to make a mess in three other rooms with overflow boxes from the studio. Everything is a mess. This simplifying is not easy…I hope that will change soon.
My Simple Summer Simplifying Challenge
I promised yesterday to speak to the ‘good stuff.’ I almost wish I hadn’t promised. So here goes:
{Coming clean} Everything is ‘good stuff’ in my eyes…even the old crungy stuff. Yes…I have a compound problem here. I feel it is my responsibility to rescue and love stuff others have tossed. I save and save and save. I think of myself as a curator or archivist…others might think differently.
These lovingly curated items are all beautiful and worth saving to me. Old rusty bits and pieces, paper scraps, rocks, shells, feathers, wood shavings from the wood shop…it’s all a treasure to me. Therein lies the problem…and I seek to be healed of the desire to hold on to these things. I see art in them all. Will I live long enough to create with all these? Perhaps not. Yet I try!
Today’s Accomplishments
- Boxes opened, sorted and things placed into the ‘outta here’ boxes!
- The studio is taking shape.
Today’s Setbacks
- I cried as I worked today. This is not going to be easy.
