Yesterday I had a chat with Heidi Von Weitzer-Schmith of The Faux Academy, visit her blog. We talked about how we could help each other survive this economy. I have had this same discussion with several artists/crafters recently…some get it…others just don’t!
Helping each other is what it’s all about in business today!
Be a good social networking partner…
This is how it works…When you see something you like that another artist has posted on FaceBook, Twitter, LinkedIn or their blog…do more than just hit the like button…leave a meaningful comment. That is what will build your ROI…Return on Imagination so you can make a living doing what you love.
It also helps bring the arts and crafts community closer together. You have heard the term ‘viral’ used in connection with YouTube videos…well now we can make a blog post go viral or a FaceBok or Twitter comment go viral.
- Cross pollinate their message, so to speak…it allows all your contacts to view the message also…thus it spreads the word about you and your work to a wider business audience.
- Give implied value to the message and the author by the fact that it is important enough to warrant a comment.
- Create a more meaningful connection between you both…and perhaps, if the original author is savvy enough, they will begin commenting on your posts.
- Build relationships which is the reason you are spending the time on social media…RIght?
My Take on Social Media Time Management
Some people whine, yes really really whine, about the time spent with social media. I NEVER whine about the time I spend on my blogs, FaceBook, Twitter, LinkedIN, and BlogHer. I actually enjoy it. Why? You ask.
I feel that connecting with and creating relationships with the people who buy my art, classes, books, etc. is exactly what allows me to be able to do what I love full time! It is an investment in my future and a major part of my marketing strategy!
My promise to you…if you help me spread the word about my mission:
Cre8tive Compass…exploring the creative life and lifestyle. Our mission is to inform, enlighten, encourage, delight and entertain you. We also want to give you ideas to enjoy every minute of your creative life and lifestyle.
…i will, in turn, promote you and your business with the magazine, the radio shows and my blogs and other social media outlets… start by leaving a comment today!
