Mom Dot Com recently asked, “WHY you are a blogger and WHAT do you want to achieve for yourself?” She also started a linky party for answers and goals. Some are thoughtful, some are fun…read on for mine…
The Whys of Blogging
I blog simply because I must! As a lifelong journal keeper, lover of computers and social media pioneer, I started my first personal blog in 1999 on Live Journal. It was a virtual continuation of my handwritten journal and sketchbook. I was smitten and now have four blogs and am a contributing writer for several more. Blogging is as much a part of me as cooking and creating…I simply must!
What Do I Hope to Achieve by Blogging
I am searching for my voice…as a woman, a creative soul and a writer. I was lucky enough to be born with the Gift ‘o Gab!!! As a Joyful Communicator and Blissful Wordsmith, I am delightfully curious about everything! This intense desire to know, understand and question my life and the world I am part of is what I write about. I guess you would say I am a storyteller first and foremost…a passionate narrator, raconteur of life as I live it…artfully domestic with a well-collected home-Transforming my life into art!!!
Of course I would be remiss if I did not admit that I desire this platform to be my career and my income. I am a creative entrepreneur. Within 18 months, REP MEdia-parent company of Cre8tive Compass Magazine and Artistically Speaking Talk Show, was able to achieve financial stability.
Every Dream is Possible and Possible is Everywhere!
Goals are important. I believe the process of writing goals enables the universe to present you with opportunities to achieve them…if you are open to seeing them as opportunities. One of the bullet points on Mom Dot’s list of goals is: “Do you want to grow an empire worth millions?” That would be a yes for me!!!
Long and Short Term Goals
- Be creative every day (ongoing)
- Launch and Monetize Dish Dish Spoon, cooking blog and radio show (3 months)
- Launch Artfully Domestic on Mom TV (3 months)
- Have health insurance (12 months)
- Become a Media Strategist or Chief Listening Officer for a major brand (within 5 years)
From Meghan Casserly, Article “10 Jobs That Didn’t Exist 10 Years Ago” in Forbes: Chief Listening Officer – One step up from a “social media manager,” (more on that later) the Chief Listening Officer keeps her ears (and eyes) on social channels and real life conversations to keep the company up to speed on what their customers are saying. “Before social media, business was a one way channel of communication. The company talked, we listened,” Purdy says. “Now we’ve become accustomed to two-way conversations. We expect them to listen, and so we see these kinds of roles.”
Beth LaPierre became the first ever Chief Listening Officer in 2010, and while she’s since moved on to other gigs, she spent her time monitoring the more than 300,000 mentions of Kodak on Facebook, Twitter, message forums, YouTube, blogs, and elsewhere on the Web each day, using software from Radian6 and PeopleBrowsr. Then she moved that information to the relevant department. As more and more companies rely on social streams and online exchanges for customer service reasons, the role of the listener will only increase.
That’s it. Lofty? Perhaps! Achievable? Of course!
Tell me know what your goals are below please or join in the Linky Party at Mom Dot.!!!
Your goals are very specific. I think the more specific the goal, the more you are apt to meet it. I have never heard of a Chief Listening Officer, but it sounds like a very interesting position to have.
What an impressive woman! I will now take some tiem to peruse your blog! Geat stuff! Thank you for sharing !!!
