Sherry Serafini Makes a Bead Embroidery Bracelet
I recently took a Surface Design class with Martine House at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC. It was an exciting week filled with new techniques I had read about but never tried. I came away with a new passion. I am smitten with bead embroidery!

The best thing is that I now have a use for all those found objects I have been collecting for ever. Other techniques I will use in my artwork are distressed Tyvek and Lutrador, creating my own fabric with water soluble stabilizer, and cording…all create texture which is important in my art.
I plan to combine Tyvek and Lutrador techniques with painting and bead embroidery to create unique, one-of-a-kind artworks. I will keep you updated on the progress of the work. Some of the samples I created in this class are below:

I’m loving the Bead embroidery, especially the last image with mesh. How long would it take me to master embroidery of this level?
it just takes practice…and patience, the right needle and thread…and beads…my first piece turned out pretty well
