Dear Comfort Zone…Affirmations for Artists

written by Rebecca E. Parsons

Dear Comfort Zone: Starting my ascent into 2011. Seat belt fastened. On time. All clear for takeoff. Turbulence will pass. Joined the frequent flyer program because I am choosing to SOAR on this journey…. adapted from @mfarinella on twitter

November and December is personal/business housekeeping time. I begin my vision quest for the next year while I review the pats on the back for this year…although I do take some time to course correct throughout the year when I find it necessary, I do not spend too much time on the didn’t go so wells!

I make this my annual retreat time…filled with plenty of silent reflection, long walks, journaling, meditation and, of course, loads of creative play time. I also reflect on those who brought blessings into my life by touching my heart in some way. And I write my Thank You notes for Thanksgiving!!!

This year’s retreat theme is SOAR into 2011!

SUCCESS within OPENNESS, AUTHENTICITY and ROOTS

So I have some work to do…the look of this magablog is the first step. I want it to look and feel artsy and contemporary…light and airy…clean. I want it to be loaded with useful and powerful content. I have also made the decision to combine C8C blog and magazine as it was beginning to become blurred as to where one ended and the other began.

I am returning to my graphic design roots and launching Cre8Tive Bistro – a cyber hangout for digital artists, photographic artists and mixed media artists. There will be FREEBIES each week along with PhotoShop Textures, Brushes, Actions and Recipes…plenty of recipes in this bistro.

These roots are evident in Cre8Tiva’s Shoppe (Zazzle) ever so elegant illustrations, paper goods and gifts and Designer pARTy Shoppe...we put the ART in pARTy!!! Unique invitations, party and table decor. All printable from your computer. Original Designs for use in home decor, party throwing, weddings, showers….almost all occasions and soirees!!

I was always inspired by the affirmations of artist Jodi Flood at The Magpie’s Treasure…but she has not done an affirmation post since 1/1/2010 and no post at all since June of this year. I don’t know what happened to her, but I miss her insight and inspiration. So, in the spirit of Jodi Flood, I am going to start Tuesday Aspirations for Artists…I was looking for something to feature on Tuesday’s anyway.

While researching (oh how I lOvE researching – somebody stop me please!!!!) I ran across this little book by Eric Maisel entitled Affirmatiosn for Artists. One of the students in my recent Blog for Arts Sake teleseries, Brecia Kralovic of pebble in the pond art studios,  has worked and trained with him. So this fits right in…I love when that happens!!!

Hope you enjoyed my first affirmation…share your 2011 affirmation below!!!
