DIY Project Painting My Studio~Have You Seen #GliddenTesters

written by Rebecca E. Parsons

It’s DIY (Do It Yourself) Project time again!!! You know me and paint…we can never be separated for too long!!! I decided to spruce up, refresh…okay totally makeover my in-home art studio…and make over I did…this is the story of how drab neutral walls (there when I moved in trust me) were transformed into a riot of color…I am

I had heard about the virtual Color Visualizer over at Glidden dot com.

I had a groovy blast trying out fantastical color ways and let my imagination fly. Fly it did…I spent over an hour browsing the Top 10 Color ways and the Match a Mood color ways…

I  {HEART} the Top 10 Growing Up Colors meant for children and the Playful Mood Colors designed to be well…playful!!! That is so me~playful with a childlike enthusiasm and imagination…..so guess what?

You have three guesses now…don’t waste them….Okay! I am going to paint my dullsville studio…

the studio before

I can’t make up my mind which of these yummy colors I want so I am heading to WalMart to pick up some of the Glidden Paint Testers (#GliddenTesters) to play with.

Seeing paint colors on your computer screen is one thing but, to really know what a color looks like, you need to see it in on the wall in the room you are painting. Only that way can you see how it looks in the lighting of that room at different times of day. With Glidden paint testers you can take your color list for a test drive. The testers are available in every color in the Glidden palette and contain enough paint to cover two square feet of wall space.

With a built-in brush and enough paint to cover three square feet, Glidden ready-to-go paint testers make it easy to get going on your next painting project. Our color paint samples come pre-tinted in all the gorgeous Glidden colors in the color center, and each one includes enough paint to cover three square feet.

Glidden has paint testers that are unique from other brands. They have a handy brush included in the lid that allow you to try out the actual paint color before you decide to buy it. The paint testers are easier to store and are not messy like those other half-used cans of paint.

I can print a handy-dandy materials list directly from Glidden’s virtual Color Visualizer. It is a PDF file that tells me what colors I picked and reminds me of other supplies I might need to pick up!! How cool is that?

Glidden at Walmart

At Walmart I discovered Glidden has these nifty XL Paint Chips with two coordinating color options right on the back to help you mix and match paint colors. If you struggle picking coordinating colors, this solves that problem. They also have inspiration cards with how-to tips for a successful painting project.

Making My Choices

Glidden x-large paint chips & testers

I picked Sunbeam, Spring Green, Sexy Pink and Sunbaked Orange and Regal Purple Glidden Brilliance* Collection Testers. The Glidden Tester allows me to test my colors on a two square foot swatch of wall before making my final decision.

Back home we tested the testers and colors on the wall…how do I choose?

Here is a slide show with videos of my shopping adventure…it is kind of difficult to read the captions at this size…so click here to see it at full size…

If you want to try #GliddenTesters out for yourself,  you can get a $2.00 off coupon on one of the many Glidden testers from Walmart at GliddenTesters.com from rom July 17 – July 30.

Stay tuned for the final room makeover…you will not believe what I am planning to do!!!

* Glidden Brilliance, is what Glidden calls a “2 N 1” paint and primer. This helps eliminate a step and save time and money. Glidden Brilliance collection combines latex paint and primer with no VOCs (volatile organic compounds), making it environmentally friendly and odor free.
