Elmer’s X-TREME Flip Flop Decorating Party

written by Rebecca E. Parsons

So how do you entertain four 15+ girls at the beach? You hold an X-TREME Flip Flop Decorating Party…with their mothers…to celebrate the first day of summer!!!

I love flip flops…who doesn’t? In Florida it is the MUST HAVE accessory…

and we have other matching accessories like this lampwork bracelet from Style Hive...

from stylehive.com

we wear them to the beach every day…

As you can see we had some fun creating, embellishing and then playing on the beach in our flip flops. I invited 4 friends and their daughters to come create with wild abandon…this is the story of our X-TREME adventure.

After I accepted the challenge to use fabric, shoes or flip flops (of course I chose flip flops) with Elmer’s X-TREME Glue Stick, I learned that I would have a MYSTERY ITEM also… gems or ribbon! Well, I could not choose between them so I used them both.

the supplies

I head to Target to peruse the craft aisles…and boy was I surprised. I didn’t know they had so many options for crafting, scrapbooking and fun! Just some of what I found…

some cute things for my granddaughter caught my eye

I came home with bunches of ribbon and gemstones, X-TREME Glue Sticks & Glitter Glues for everyone…

gems and ribbons from Target

and some new, colorful flip flops.

BYOFF

It was a Bring Your Own Flip Flops style event. I furnished yards and yards of colorful ribbon, hundreds of bling items and gems, Elmer’s X-TREME Glue Sticks and other Elmer’s products, plus pretzel and plain M&Ms and CLEAR sparkling flavored water…my new fave!!!

We sat around my dining room table and blinged out our flippers…here are the results.

Here’s what we did:

We glued ribbons and gem stones on the flip flops. Each had a different approach. We used the following Elmer’s products:

Elmer’s glitter glues

Elmer’s X-TREME School Glue Stick

I gave a little talk about the products and then we dove irght in…

Some used ribbons along the straps:

some glued ribbons on the straps and the edges…

some tied ribbons around the straps…

some glued gems along the straps with Elmer’s glitter glue…

some did a little of everything…

watch them work…

here is what some of them said…

Love this idea! What girl doesn’t have at least one pair! I personally own about 30plus pairs! I wear them all year around! Hey Jesus wore sandals! Right? So I wear flip flops! Lol
