Finding Your Purpose

written by Rebecca E. Parsons

in the shadows -intuitive digital painting from my hand print

Your purpose explains what you are doing with your life. Your vision explains how you are living your purpose. Your goals enable you to realize your vision. -Bob Proctor

The painting and the quote both ‘speak’ to my purpose…to communicate, as I am a passionate leader/messenger. The past few posts have been about voicing your truth as an artist…this painting is my truth. The layers reflect who I am and what I am doing…the legacy I am creating. The painting has passion, strength, messages…it was named “in the shadows” before I started creating it. I let it develop intuitively…layer by layer (there are 13) until it revealed it’s message to me.

I have been in the shadows (life school) for the past two years (read about the journey here and here) building my strength for the big job I am destined to do. Every moment of my life brought me to this place at this time…so that I have what it takes to soar again and, having been through my life school, I have the ability to help you soar also.

ready to soar

If you know what to do to reach your goal, it’s not a big enough goal. -Bob Proctor

My dear friend Vanessa Valencia told me recently that I had the power to achieve my dream of doing retreats. She said, “It is your destiny and you can make it happen. You don’t need me or anyone else to do it!” My dream is to do two creativity retreats:

  1. Cre8Topia:  An artistic journey with kindred spirits to a place where artists of all genres are encouraged to explore and connect with their unique visual voice and discover the art they were born to create. Once we find that voice, the artists continue the journey toward the edge of what’s possible by learning to share that voice with confidence and stand in their own magnificence.
  2. The Artist as a Spiritual Explorer: A journey of total submersion in all forms of creativity to find the deep connection with your source through your art. I have always believed that Art is Prayer. The space to explore without restrictions is given to the participants in a nurturing and holistic environment. We learn to care and listen to our inner wisdom.

Set a goal to achieve something that is so big, so exhilarating that it excites you and scares you at the same time. It must be a goal that is so appealing, so much in line with your spiritual core that you can’t get it out of your mind. If you do not get chills when you set a goal, you’re not setting big enough goals. -Bob Proctor

The retreats both excite and scare me…but they have been in my spiritual core for many, many years now. I get chills even writing about them. I have been incorporating mini-retreats into my teaching for several years now. The students love those parts of the class and always note that the exercises opened their minds and spirit to new ways of creating. I feel that I am in the midst of my power when I teach these explorations. The connection between my students and me is amazing.

We come this way but once. We can either tiptoe through life and hope we get to death without being badly bruised or we can live a full, complete life achieving our goals and realizing our wildest dreams. -Bob Proctor

I do not plan to tiptoe nor remain in the shadows of my life and my life purpose. I am ready to journey forth and I am fully prepared to lead the way for artists with whom my musings/teachings/words/ideas resonate. If this is you and you don’t wish to wait until late 2011 or 2012 for a live retreat, I am offering the retreat basics in the form of a 6-month mentoring/coaching program called...SOAR. Click if you feel pulled to join in the explorations!!!

learn to soar

As always…I am in your service!

    Rebecca,
I am so in the beginning stages of trying to figure out how to make my passion my career. I have just (yesterday) opened my etsy shop and have work in 2 galleries. Your website/blog/insightful information is going to be a goldmine for me! I’m glad we have crossed virtual paths.
