Healthy Joints Adventure…Elations at Walmart

written by Rebecca E. Parsons

I am not really elated...I am on the search for Elations® joint health drinks at our local WalMart. As most of you know, I have acute arthritis…and must keep moving or I would not be able to…well move at all! I also have trouble swallowing pills…so joint supplements in pill form are out for me.

A friend told me that Elations, a liquid supplement that helps promote and improve joint health, might help me walk better. So I think it’s worth a try. If it works…I certainly could be elated!!!

So off I toddle to shop the joint category at Walmart in search of a drink from the fountain of youth so to speak!!! Afterall, I do live just 45 miles from St. Augustine and have visited that fountain of youth many times. It has not worked to date!!!

I did my research and it seems that there are many choices when it comes to liquid joint health supplements – Elations, Joint Juice, Osteo Bi-Flex Liquid, Supple Drink, Emergen-C, etc. My local WalMart only had the Elations brand in liquid form. They have about five shelves full of  joint health supplements in pill form. Most of these contain Glucosamine, Chondroitin and Calcium.

I found it easily enough near the pharmacy in the Vitamin section. There was no special signage for joint health and I had to get real close to read the price tags. There were no special deals in this section either. I was looking for a rollback as many of these items are very pricey. The Elations bright green packages stood out in this section.

My biggest beef with the whole process is that Elations was on the bottom shelf!!! Since I have trouble bending and lifting…it was a big stretch for me to get it into my cart. I actually had to have my friend take it off the shelf for me. I would never have been able to do this  myself. Stores could be a little more intuitive about placement!!!

It comes in 6-pack bottles and in powder form that you can carry with you and put in any water bottle. I was hoping that I could buy some of the carry with packets, but my WalMart didn’t have them. I was a little bummed. The website shows three flavors…Cranberry Apple, Raspberry White Grape and Black Cherry. I really really wanted the Black Cherry. Again, my WalMart didn’t have it. I was really bummed at that!!

I settled for the Raspberry White Grape.

Once home, I opened the colorful package. Again, my arthritic fingers had a little struggle getting through the plastic. Once open, I shook it as directed then poured it over ice and enjoyed the taste of it pretty well. I do, however, look forward to the Black Cherry and the convenience of the powders.

It is something I will continue to use if it works. I believe that you must use it for several weeks to see improvement. One 8 oz. bottle is the daily portion. It costs a little over a dollar a day so it may be steep for some on fixed incomes.

I like the fact that Elations is only 30 calories per bottle and contains just 1 gram of sugar. I did not experience any digestive issues as I often do with pills.

I was elated to find this Elations Grocery Giveaway notice on the top of my package. Thay are giving away $25,000 $50,000 in grocery gift cards (1- $2,100 card each week for 12 weeks)…who can’t use that today? They also have a great rewards program called Extras with coupon deals too.

So I will let you know if I start to walk better and thus become over elated… smile!
