Math Meets Fashion and Fit Meets Style at #Sonsi.com

written by Rebecca E. Parsons

I am so excited to be one of the first women to try the new Fashion Genius™ from Sonsi, com, a new online shopping hub. It is a truly revolutionary new technology where Math Meets Fashion and Fit Meets Style for plus size women. And it’s FUN!!!

This week, Lane Bryant and sister brands Sonsi, Catherines and Fashion Bug, are launching a breakthrough technology that will make shopping for clothes online super easy and fun for plus size women. Fashion Genius is a breakthrough technology that gives modern full figured women what they crave most: easy access to a world of plus size fashions that caters to their unique body shapes and style preferences.

It also solves a big dilemma: the dreaded FIT issue. This process opens up a world of well-designed plus size fashions for our individual needs. The results of the simple 3-minute survey actually marries my curves, fit issues and signature styles to a world of bras, tops and bottoms that are an ideal fit for my individual figure. How do they do that? (*see The Technical Stuff below)

First, I took a quick 3-minute survey about my figure and fashion preferences. The best part…no measurements required; so it wasn’t painful or embarrassing. There is a Tops Survey, Bottoms Survey and Bras Survey. Most of you know ‘bras’ is a 4-letter word for me. I have never found one I liked or felt comfortable in. And I really don’t like to shop. Shopping for clothing usually happens on a ‘I am going somewhere special and I need something w/o paint on it’ basis.

After you finish, you get a Style Profile…mine is ‘Fearlessly Confident ‘saying, “You are mostly Dramatic and Trendy…with a touch of Feminine and casual.” Well that about describes me to a T! This could be fun!!!

Did I mention it’s fun to do? You can virtually play with the clothing from all these shops and mix and match to your hearts desire. They make recommendations specifically for you based on your survey answers. I designed a weekend wardrobe because I love a good road trip. Watch me design it in the little video below…

The Best Part

FREE SHIPPING!!! It is more convenient to shop online because I now have the option to have any order shipped to any of the Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug or Catherines’ stores (nearly 2,000 nationwide) for pickup. I save money  because the ship-to-store option is FREE. How cool is that? It also saves valuable time by allowing me to shop from a vast selection of merchandise from Lane Bryant, Cacique, Catherines, Fashion Bug, Loop 18 and Sonsi’s assortment of over 380 brands with a single Universal Checkout.

About Fashion Genius

The new “Math meets Fashion, Fit meets Style” Fashion Genius technology goes live today…September 12!

Fashion Genius takes the guesswork out of shopping online, enabling plus size women to turn personalized picks into fully styled, head-to-toe outfits that they can shop, save and share with their friends.

According to Jill Hutchison, general manager of Sonsi.com, Charming Shoppes’ award-winning online shopping and social destination, “with Fashion Genius, she can truly achieve her full fashion potential in an online shopping environment that’s designed just for her. It’s like having your own personal department store delivered to your living room.”

Fashion Genius fills a void in a market that serves 60 percent of American women, yet only accounts for 17 percent of the total apparel market share.

*The Technical Stuff

It took a team of mathematicians, computer scientists, and fashion industry experts to prove what full figured women have always known intuitively and experienced first-hand: When it comes to finding apparel that both fits and flatters the plus size figure, one size definitely does not fit all. Charming Shoppes’ research and development, which included 10,000 in-person fittings of bras, pants and tops and 1.25 million survey answers, revealed that 80 percent of plus size women have major fit issues with bras, 65 percent have issues with jeans that gape at the waist, and nearly 60 percent can’t find a top that properly fits their busts.

The gee-whiz science behind Fashion Genius required the painstaking input of detailed specifications for thousands of Lane Bryant, Catherines and Fashion Bug apparel items, as well as notable brands carried by Sonsi such as IGIGI by Yuliya Raquel , Kiyonna, and Sealed with a Kiss Designs.

The proprietary research was conducted by Charming Shoppes for its family of plus size retail brands, including LaneBryant.com, Catherines.com, FashionBug.com.
