ROI is short for Return on Imagination. As artists and creative business owners this is, or should be, what’s it is ALL about?
I will borrow from the Hokey Pokey song…
You put your right art in,
You put your right art out;
You put your right art in,
And you shake it all about.
You do the Hokey-Pokey,
And you turn yourself around.
That’s what it’s all about!
Myth: You put your right art into you work and you put that right art out into the world, people will come and buy it!
We all want and expect a Return on Investment. We invest time, effort, money in something and expect a decent return. As artists, we have only out Imagination and Creativity to invest in. And we should expect a Return on Imagination. At least this is what I expect in Rebecca/Cre8Tiva’s world! How about you?
I imagine that you are a lot like me…creating every moment that it is possible to create. Even when I am not at my easel or computer, I am thinking about creating. It is just the way I am and I accept that part of me that has to stop and sketch something while I am out and about…picks up odds bits of stuff I find on the ground to my companions disgust…carries a camera with me at all times so I don’t miss something…
All of these quirks or eccentricities are an investment in my future artwork. And it is not silly to expect a return on that imagination! What has this to do with marketing, you ask? It is just a slight reframing of perspective to get us thinking about ROI.
Now put you right art out…
