How to succeed at self-employment when you aren’t a superhero…
In an recent article by Molly Gordon of Authentic Promotion I was moved to take a look at myself, my brand and my business model. I have been working very hard for over two years attempting to recreate a workable business model that will support me while embracing every facet of my humanity: physical, creative, emotional, spiritual, social, intellectual, and material.
The article asked three powerful questions:
What if Wonder Woman’s crown is too small for an ordinary mortal?
What if thinking you should be a superhero or a rockstar or a guru is actually cramping your style, keeping you small?
What if trying to do it all is ruining (harsh word, and it may be true) your biz?
The article continued: “A super hero’s crown too tight? With all the noise about successful people being rockstars and gurus these days, it’s easy to get seduced into believing your need to be some kind of super hero to succeed. It feels like you aren’t big enough. Cool enough. Connected enough to succeed at more than a middling level. You never get to experience yourself as gloriously effective and gifted.”
I wrote a post at Cre8Tiva’s Blog about in March 2008 entitled The Demise of the Super Woman Drama Queen…yep…that would be me. It was a very difficult time in my life. I realized that I was not super woman…nor did I have super powers. Molly’s article reminded me what I forgot to remember… I was in recovery for Super Woman Syndrome!!!
It is not uncommon for others to comment about me being SuperWoman…

Nope…it is not me at my finest…trying to be a Super Hero by doing it all myself…
So today I am admitting I need help….I am entering Recovering Super Woman phase once again…I am getting help…a virtual assistant. Do any of you need to join me?

Learning when to ask for help is a very courageous thing. Something I haven’t learned how to do/accept yet.
Thanks Laura for stopping by! Asking for help is probably the number one most difficult thing for me. It takes a lot of chaos before I will reach out!!! Not such a good thing for me spiritually!!!
