It almost brings tears to my eyes as I reflect on my time in Charleston with Bigelow Tea. It was an amazing time with others who have the same love of tea as I. It was phenomenal. It was fun. It was inspiring!!!
I enjoyed every moment…the beautiful sunrises and views from our veranda at the lovely pink house on The Battery…Palmer House!!!
The welcome reception at the Edmondston-Alston House…
Yet my favorite memory was talking with Mrs. Bigelow, the inventor of my favorite tea Plantation Mint. I loved listening to the story of how she had to be sneaky about bringing a new tea to Mrs. Ruth Bigelow, her Mother-in-Law. She thought a spearmint tea would be better than all the peppermint teas {I so agree.}. So she set about creating it. She gathered all the tasting research before she presented it to her MIL. And today I can sip my favorite tea because this woman had the foresight to be creative!!! Here I am with Mr. and Mrs. Bigelow after she shared the story of Plantation Mint tea with me.
My second favorite moment was the tea tasting with Cindi Bigelow, President of Bigelow Tea…she is a hoot!!! We tasted several types of tea and even other brands. Someday soon I will share how to do a tea tasting….sip through your teeth, chew it and tap your spoon on the table!!! It will be a video for sure!!!
HIMself loved the tea tasting and even asked a bunch of relevant questions. I find him making cups all the time now!!!
The closing dinner at The Charleston Tea Plantation…
Cindi Bigelow among the live oaks….
The Bigelows spared no expense to create a once in a lifetime memory. They were open, approachable and full of beautiful stories. I feel like a beloved family member now. That is a pretty remarkable thing for a brand to do.
I promise to share more detailed Tea Moment Memories of the Charleston trip in the next few weeks!!! I will be sharing loads of recipes I am developing. Plus, I will be sharing my tea bag artwork. For now I am just basking in the moment…See more photos here.
