Master Bath Organization Tips
Organizing a bathroom can be a challenge. Organizing and decorating a Master Bath in a rental home is even more so. This Master Bath needs help…just look at that faux marble. 😐 HIMself calls it “Carribeanie.” That’s about the best descriptor I can use. HA HA – I gathered my favorite Master Bath Organization Tips for you. Every month I hope to tackle a new area of my home to simplify and decorate in a style that suits our transitional lifestyle.
Why a Master Bath Organization Project?
On the Upside, it’s BIG!! It is a large triangle {sort of} area! There is plenty of space, but it is all in the middle of the floor. I had no place for towels except the towel bars behind the closet door and over the gigantic tub that you had to climb into to fetch the towel. HUH?!? You had to take a towel with you into the shower. The water closet is fairly large also, but there was no place for extra toilet paper rolls. ARGHHHH
I thought about ordering a round storage bench for the middle of the floor. I tried placing a medium round hamper basket there for a day or two just to see if we liked it. I tripped over it. HIMself tripped over it. And Sir Chancelot barked at it. Scratch that idea. Where do I put towels and toilet paper???
7 Inexpensive Master Bath Organization Tips
The Master Bath Organization really took time to plan; here are my simple and inexpensive Master Bath Organization Tips:
Think Outside the Box
Look for any wall space. The only space I had for storage not under the sink was a 2′ space behind my closet door. I decided to place a not-so-deep storage unit behind the closet door to hold towels. The one I ordered is only 11″ deep. That allows plenty of room to access the closet, and looks charming with my new turkish towels and towel sets displayed.
Use Color Coordinated Containers Under the Sink
Master Bath Organization Tips would not be complete without addressing under the sink. I had loads of space under my double sink vanity. It was a mish-mash of boxes, baskets, makeup bags, emergency kits, cleaning products…you get the picture. I ordered turquoise baskets and containers of varying sizes. I then took a long, clutter be gone look at the contents. I took everything out, sorted it into like items – cleaning, medical, nail products, hair (How can one woman have so many scrunchies?) and soap (I travel a lot). I only put things back that I needed. The rest was outta here. I even donated a huge basket of soap, shampoo, and shower caps to the women’s shelter. Good deed done!!
Think Over the Door
Two of my favorite finds are an over the cabinet door towel holder and an over the door coat rack that is now hanging on my shower to hold shower towels!! SCORE!
Use Rugs to Soften the Cold, Cold Floor
I found a large aqua rug and two smaller ones for setting in front of the shower/tub and toilet. The large aqua rug is in front of the vanity. These rugs are cotton, washable, and fairly inexpensive. They soften the raging turquoise marble too.
Decorate the Countertop
I thought the counter space between the sinks was a vast wasteland. I brought in an antique silver serving tray and placed some turquoise beads, an angel statue, and an heirloom perfume bottle on it. It brings a finished look to the sink.
Finish with Greenery
Plants, fresh and faux, finish the space. I love to have plants in my bathroom. This adds something special, and they thrive in there. I also added a little topiary by the new shelving unit to soften the edge.
Use Small Cabinet to Hold Toilet Paper
The area near the toilet needs some storage. I found this diminutive cabinet with two shelves and a drawer while thrifting. I think I will soon paint it white. It is just perfect for the water closet. The little hydrangea blossoms and the rug complete the look.
