Champions for Kids Dial Into Giving SIMPLE Service Project
I was given the opportunity to work on a Dial Into Giving simple service project with the Champions for Kids organization. I accepted with great enthusiasm as helping children who cannot help themselves is one of my great passions. CFK is an organization that has a mission and a vision to create a community to simply change the world by helping to improve the lives of our children.
CFK’s Mission
Champions for Kids works to mobilize MILLIONS of people by providing training and resources to improve the lives of children in communities across America and beyond. Our goal is to mobilize 20 Million people by 2020.
I sprang into action as soon as I received the details. I asked my neighbors to join me in collecting much needed toiletries (soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc.) to address the personal care needs of children and their mothers at Micah’s Place here on Amelia Island. No child should ever be hungry, frightened or see their mother abused!!! EVER!!!
Micah’s Place is a Certified Domestic Violence Center and the only one serving Nassau County Florida. Our mission is to provide prevention and intervention services to victims of domestic violence; and to provide education within our community to effect change in behavior and attitudes relating to domestic violence. We offer a safe, confidential shelter, plus advocacy, a 24-hour toll-free hotline, counseling, legal advocacy, and support groups to victims of domestic violence. All of our services are free and confidential.
Trick or Treat for Micah’s Place
HIMself and I delivered a call for personal care items to our neighbors. Since it was the week before Halloween, we thought trick or treating for Micah’s Place was in order. So we invited our neighbors to join us in collecting personal care items for the shelter. We also went to Walmart and raided the Dial Soap shelves for our donation. See our shopping trip in detail here.

Our neighbors came through for the Champions for Kids Dial Into Giving #DIALCFK project. We collected and delivered a huge basket of toiletries, several gift cards and cash donations to Micah’s Place. The collection box was much larger than it appears in the photo below. There were all kinds of Dial soaps – hand soap, body wash, and bar soaps. There were lotions and potions, haircare products and tooth care products. As you can see, the basket was overflowing and really deep…so there will be some clean hands in the shelter for some time!!!

My neighbors liked the idea so much, they decided to do this on a regular basis. Once per each quarter we will be collecting and delivering personal care items to Micah’s Place. I encourage all my readers to contact your local shelters and ask for their wish list. There is always something you can donate that will mean the world to the residents. And it will give you the personal satisfaction of knowing you helped a child. The people at the shelter donation center were thrilled at the gift. Our neighborhood did an awesome job and a great service to the residents of Micah’s Place! Thank you my friends!!!

What a wonderful idea to contact shelters for their “Wishlists”. This is truly making a difference in the people’s lives who need it most.
You truly do rock, Rebecca!!!
