Dirty Footprints Studio said, “I’m trying real hard to become friends with Discipline.”
People often ask me how I get so much accomplished? Well, I have no life…LOL…yes I do, but I have become very close friends with discipline of late!
When I worked for money, I was a little more relaxed in my work ethic. I always met deadlines, but sometimes just barely. Now that I work for survival, I find it necessary to be more, shall we say driven, focused…disciplined!!!
I am a highly distractible being…knowing and accepting this about myself, I decided to make an effort to organize myself earlier this year when the demand on my time were overwhelming me!!! A new magazine, new blog, 2 radio shows, opening a e-school, and making art!!! Please help me!!!
If you lifted the cover to peek at the inner workings, you would see constant scurrying and scampering about…moving with great haste as the hundreds, even thousands of behind the scenes tasks must be performed in order to bring Cre8tive Compass Magazine, Blog and Radio Shows to life! Sometimes Most times I feel very much like the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland…the uber nervous/clock watching White Rabbit…”Oh Dear, Oh Dear…what shall I do…so much to do…not enough time…Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear”…attempting 6 or 20 Impossible Things Before Breakfast…having violent mood swings…necessitating much chocolate…
So I actually did two importat things to find balance
- I made a commitment to change, and
- I started using a calendar on my computer that REMINDS me of things!!!
A Typical Day in the Life of Rebecca:
I get up every morning about 6AM and head for the beach. I walk in mindful meditation for an hour or two. It centers me for the day and helps me maintain balance.
8AM at computer checking my calendar, e-mail, FaceBook, The Hive, my blogs
9AM class work- create videos, edit videos, write class notes, etc.
12noon check e-mail, FB, Twitter, make calls
12:30PM lunch and play time with dog
1:30PM writing- book, articles, press releases, etc.
3:30PM art making and creative time (can and often does spill into educational time)
5:30PM educational activities – online classes i am taking
6:45PM radio shows – correspondence, contact future guests, research questions for interview, call guests
7:30PM dinner
8:30PM check e-mail, FB, Twitter, visit other blogs
10:30PM journal
11PM bedtime
Tomorrow we are going to discuss a tie management tune-up…until then…peace and blessings
