Art and Business at Odds?
BE YOU*CURATE YOU!
I would venture to say that most people believe that art and business are at odds. Many people think what I am doing is at odds with the known universe…
trying to teach people who color outside the lines how to think, behave, walk and talk and operate like a business person so they can make a living doing what they love!!!
Trust me when I tell you that I, too, have always colored outside the lines. When asked or expected to conform, I bolt! I took one of those silly tests for employment once and the result was:
She does not like rules and is smart enough to bend them almost to the breaking point, yet she is charming enough to convince you that doing it this way is better.
I did not land the job…but it was coloring inside the lines anyway. When I asked why I was not hired as Creative Director, they gave me the results of the test because they said they were “unique.”
Unique works for me…the creative thinker and idea person that I am. So why would ‘unique’ be a detriment to landing a job in a creative field? This event actually brought me here today to share with you…
I share this because YOU ARE UNIQUE TOO! And it is more than OKAY to be UNIQUE!!!
Your uniqueness is what will set you apart from the other artists in the world. Finding your unique visual voice is your selling point…and you need to understand that to gain a ROI…Return on YOUR Imagination!
Once you find your unique visual voice and begin to use it with regularity…you will find your people, your tribe…those who are meant to benefit from what you have to say with your art! Then you can begin to Curate YOU!!!
And this unique visual voice is exactly the thing that you market…and it will be easy because it is that innate part of you that was meant to shine.
* Curate YOU!!! is my new book that will be out in late July or August.
CURATE YOU!
CURATE YOU!

I know that what I do is unique, enticing, and attractive to the eye and the senses, which is what draws people to it, but I have such a hard time marketing my work. It seems like it is a left brain task that my right brain will not let me take part in. I will buy this book as soon as it is available, and I am grateful that you saw the need to write it.
thanks Robin for coming by and really reading the words…the book is one of my best…i am always here to support your dreams
