I am entering the Instant Happy Blogger Contest sponsored and inspired by the pages of Karen Salmansohn’s INSTANT HAPPY book. Here is the quote that I chose to believe…
“Everything you’ve ever done, every person you’ve ever met, every experience you’ve ever had is a part of who you are today. Everything needed to be as it was, otherwise you wouldn’t have grown into you!!!” -Karen Salmansohn
I love how the text graphic in the book is designed like the rings of a tree. For a tree’s rings reflect its strength through a series of endless spirals…just like my life is an endless series of spirals…blessed and blisssed.
I had a moment of instant happy this morning…I decided to take my tea in the garden. As I enjoyed the warmth of the minty tea and savored a fave pistachio macaron, I became really present in the moment. Flipping the pages of Karen’s Instant Happy was a journey inside myself. Each of the quotes made me stop and reflect. When I came upon the above quote, I paused and smiled. I was transported to that place where time ceases to matter and everything feels right with the world. I allowed myself to experience it…a gift indeed.
Remembering all those who have spiraled in and around my life and touched my soul in special ways, a few stood out. I looked back to my youthful days in Lyon, France studying decorative painting. I remembered the two Frenchmen who taught me how to see those things around me as well as paint them. Long gone now, they played a part in my life that has landed me here today writing and creating with wild abandon. It was a moment of sheer bliss…filled with memories…ahhhhhh.
I remember the pain of the last few years of loss. I see how each of those losses needed to be exactly as they were in order for me to grow and expand. Each spiral of this life, the good as well as the bad, has been necessary for me to find my voice, my passion and my calling. I have reached the ‘knowing’ that I am here for a reason and that life lessons, once learned, have become my soul’s strength.
I am filled with wonder at the progression of moments that have delivered me to this place today. Some were amazing…some were devastating. But wrapped within each was the gift of me.
A slight breeze ruffled my hair as I smiled to myself…taking it all in. Savoring each tiny detail and feeling blessed beyond measure. My cup runneth over today!!!

The book INSTANT HAPPY can be found at URBAN OUTFITTERS, Z-GALLERIE, or WEST ELM as well as most booksellers.
