I have learned that contemplation is essential to my 90-Day Summer Simplifying Challenge as well as my everyday life. By disposition, I have the tendency to overwork while trying to balance my job, my life and my creative pursuits. You can read exactly what this all about in my Summer Simplifying Challenge & Manifesto.
A Recovering Magpie’s Seeks Balance
When my efforts are not balanced with time to allow God to take care of me, it is not a pretty picture! God calls me to ‘slow down’ and, if I do not heed HIs call, things fall apart rapidly. In my futile attempts not to rush through my life, I often find myself thwarted by the busyness of the day. This noise distracts this magpie when I should be searching for for more time to find internal peace and the ever-elusive balance.
{Coming clean} I often rush through my life with frantic pursuits. An attitude of contemplation throughout the day helps to keep me centered. Contemplation just nurtures my soul. I begin each day with a meditative walk, slowing down enough to to find God in all things—the trees and flowers or the ocean as my feet sink into the sand.
As I continue down this Summer Simplifying Challenge path, I know I am breaking free of the heavy weight of self that often holds me back. Self desires the easy way out or comfort. And comfort is the enemy of greatness.
