We are excited to have Maria Nerius as a regular Creative Me contributor. All creative entrepreneurs will be excited to duplicate her creative living ideas and how-tos.
Maria started selling her handmade crafts in 1981 as a way to bring in a little income while trying to find a real job. She hasn’t looked back! She is a well-known designer, writer, author, editor, and consultant. She has worked as an editor for publishers including the DRG Network, Prime Media, and CK Media. She was the founding editor of Stamp It! Magazine and the editor of Jewelry Creations.
She currently serves as the Editorial Consultant to FaveCrafts.com. She has written award-winning books covering the creative arts of soapmaking, rubberstamping, heritage scrapbooking, wood dollmaking, holiday crafts, and more. You may also recognize her from segments of crafting TV shows including Aleene’s Creative Living.
Maria is a savvy social media networking enthusiast who enjoys staying on top of current trends as well as knowing the traditions and history of crafting and crafting techniques. She is featured weekly on Inspired at Home Radio Sunday Nights @ 7 pm Eastern (6 pm Central, 5 pm Mountain, 4 pm Pacific) where she shares her Craft Concierge reports, manages the chatroom and is the pajama-clad hostess of Inspired at Home Pajama Party LIVE Wednesday evenings at 10PM Eastern and writes the PJ Party blog.
There isn’t a craft Maria hasn’t tried or has on her must-do list. She’s always up for a challenge and enjoys researching the history and traditions of art and crafts. Her natural curiosity and love of telling a good story is a perfect mix for adventures in learning about everything handmade. Her passion is sharing information with others about the joys of crafting. She believes that crafting can change the world.
When not creating, Maria loves to travel, scuba dive, and garden. She married her high school sweetheart, Ken, who shares her love of creativity although he’s still not too sure she should be left alone with power tools. Her home in Florida is filled with four very happy dogs and lots of sunshine. She has a beautiful studio in the backyard overlooking a pond, both built by Ken.
Hello, Maria…just discovered this website, and was so happy to see you here…am missing the “old days” on TV. I’m so glad to know you’re still involved, and look forward to more articles from you. I’ve reached a stage in my life where I finally have some time for myself…the problem is that I want to do everything (at once) that I’ve been interested in over the years.
I’m in the process of creating my own studio, so that I can “create” to my heart’s content. Thanks for sharing your artistic know how with us!
