I love to cook. And I love to create a beautiful atmosphere for enjoying my food. Easter morning is no exception. After sunrise mass, we sat down to a joyous meal. This was really a ‘break fast’ meal as Lent is over, Christ is risen and we are blessed indeed.
It was a bright and cheerful table this morning…and a little on the sweet side. Since it is just for the two of us, I kept it simple and playful. The centerpiece is a beautiful basket holding two kissing Lindt chocolate bunnies surrounded by colorful eggs on a silver stand…to elevate it a little. I tied a blue and white polka dot bow around the handle and let the ends flow to the table.
I took special care with the place settings. I used my thrift store ‘find’ blue bow plates and forks as inspiration. The large plates are from Italy. I picked some tiny flowers which are tucked inside an egg shell and placed into an egg cup. The egg shells hold water to keep them fresh. I used mixed silverware.
I used tall etched glasses from Goodwill (49¢ each) to hold the beautiful Caspari napkins.. I picked these napkins up at their Charlottesville, VA store at the after Christmas sale. I set the glasses on pastel checked plates filled with speckled jelly beans. I hung a little carrot umbrella from Lindt off the side. I intended to use these as place cards if I had guests.
In the background you see a little nest of eggs under glass I fashioned from Rice noodles and blue Easter Candies. It was so quick and easy to do. I also topped some cupcakes with birds nests (see photo below).
I created a cute vignette with a tiny bunny I picked up at my thrift store yesterday for 10¢. He snuggles in my pink Easter gloves.
These are the cupcakes for later on today!!!
Happy Easter to you and your family!!!
